We, Icicles adventure team have been organizing various treks, tours and adventures all over foothills of Himalayas and tried to share our travel experiences, tips, necessary piece of information on our blog. The concept of writing down the blog articles didn’t came just like that, we believed that the best way to connect with potential travelers is through articles, answering their queries and sharing, journaling writing stories about Nepal trekking destinations, festivals, events and others.
Every time we organize any trip into Himalayan country Nepal, we get an opportunity to learn new thing, and one of our professional trekking guide Shiva put a glue stick on his backpack. I wondered why he put that in that time, but later he came up with so beautifully decorated travel book that truly exhibits the raw highlights of trekking destination.
It was not a long ago when he returned from Everest base camp trek, with a book which included the boarding pass, Lukla -KTM plane ticket, copies of TIMS cards, hotel and restaurant bills, visiting cards of local lodges and short stories of each day that described what exactly happened that day in few points. The glue book or his story book was interesting to see and he also says that it takes him back to those days while reading days and months later.
So, actually in this article, here we would like to share with you that how these sticking on book and later on writing about it can help you write your own Nepal trekking stories. Yup, it is not rocket science after all! You simply need a tape or glue stick and we are pretty sure, it will be best thing you will do while you are and after your trek.
What things to glue on your story book?
- Boarding passes and plane/bus tickets
- TIMS card
- National park and conservation area entrance tickets
- Hotels and lodges bills, visiting cards
- Business cards of people you meet along the route
- Map cuttings and photographs
- Itinerary note
- Postcards of that host trekking site
- And any other thing that you can stick on your story book.
Doing these things might seem to be kind of awkward and hectic task on first time while you finally reach your tea house at the end and open your story book with glue sticks; however it is not that daunting and your every effort is worth it. People surrounding you might respect your single time at dining hall, while our guide Shiva says that it is always better to have conversation, warm coffee and share travel stories from past and present.
It is for sure that you will cherish those adventurous memories glued on your story book, and it also helps travel back to time when you see those stickers. Your plane flight to Lukla after seeing your boarding pass, beautiful Himalayan views after seeing the postcard. It helps you remember most of those wonderful trekking memories that you had on foothills of Nepal Himalayas. And it is truly awesome feeling. Now we hope that you carry the glue stick and note book before embarking into awesome trek routes!
